• BBC journalist, Sangita Myska, calls Nigel Farage a thug in a suit.
• A presenter says calling animals by their English names is "jarring".

Political Bias and Framing

• Boss admits the broadcaster has a liberal bias.
• Reform Party candidate Nigel Farage claimed that the UK was the World's seventh biggest exporter, The BBC said that was only true if you didn't exclude entire categories of goods.
• Edited footage of a Trump speech to make it appear he incited violence.
• Misquoted Rupert Lowe in parliament and provided a "correction", which then require a further correction.
• Forced to apologise for describing Reform Party as "far right".
• Made a direct comparison between the Nazi occupation of France and Marine Le Pen's National Rally political party.
• Described Jean-Luc Melenchon, a self described communist, as "centre-left".
• Describes Anura Kumara Dissanayake, a marxist leader of Sri Lanka, as "left-leaning".
• Says that Kamala Harris being referred to the "border tsar" is a "contested term", despite it being used to describe her position by Congress.
• In a debate where Joe Biden is described as "incoherent", the headline was that a his political competitor was evading questions.

Crime Reporting (Omissions, Hearsay and Passive Language)

• Newmarket man is charged with murder. Police found a body in Taiwo Abodunde's home.
• Man charged after pregnant woman stabbed. Mihai Popescu charged with stabbing a heavily pregnant women.
• Described an assassination attempt with a firearm on Donald Trump as "loud bangs".
• Describes a gun as "went off", as if it could happen without the operator pulling the trigger.
• Failed to mention that Ricky Jones called for peoples throats to be cut, and only mentioned that he gestured it.
• Describes direct and immediate threat of slitting someones throat in a riot as a "remark".
• Describes the video of a man gesticulating and demanding to kill people with opposing viewpoints as "appearing" to show he said that the throats of rioters should be cut.
• Promoted a drill rapping murderer.
• Detailed the weight loss journey of a man later convicted of plotting to kidnap, rape and murder Holly Willoughby.
• Failed to mention that the subject of an article had called for all police to be killed.
• Deliberately deceived readers with a story about a dog attacking a man with Down's syndrome.
• Propagated a lie that a baby's ashes had been taken in a burglary, which lead to a 14 year old boy killing himself.

Israel, Hamas and Gaza Coverage

• Introduced Haitham al-Haddad as a highly respected figure, however he supported the Hamas attacks on Israel.
• Described Ismail Haniyeh, the leader of a proscribed Islamic terror group Hamas as "moderate and pragmatic".
• Took 8 weeks to confirm Hamas raped and mutilated women in the October 7th attacks in Israel.
• The camera man of a documentary about Gaza appears to celebrate the October 7th massacre in Israel.
• In a documentary about gaza, the narrator is a member of a family of the proscribed terrorist group Hamas run government.
• Removes mentions of "Jihad" and "Jews" in a Hamas linked documentary.
• Executive Charlotte Moore placed on New Years Honours list, despite being blamed over the Gaza documentary with Hamas links.
• Describes an Isreali attack on Hezbollah, where 8 Hezbollah members are killed, as 10 people being killed.
• Censured its staff from calling Hamas a terror group.
• Told employees that Hamas and its government are different entities.
• Refuses to call Hamas a terrorist organisation, despite it being a proscribed terrorist group.
• Cited a statement from Hamas claiming an Israeli air strike was to blame for the atrocity that killed hundreds at a hospital. Later reports discovered it was a Hamas rocket.
• Automatic weapons, bombs and underground tunnel networks in a hospital are not substantial evidence of a major operation.
• Wrote about the death of Yahya Sinar, the leader of Hamas, and failed to mention that he is a terrorist.
• Report lead by Trevor Asserson about the BBC found that it breached guidelines 1500 timers over the Israel Hamas war.
• Platformed a doctor four days after it was revealed he had urged Palestinians to fight back after 7 October.
• Claims to interview three "random" individuals in a city in America, however all three are activists with a history of antisemitism.
• Reporting Palestinian hearsay about Israeli military strategy.
• Scriptwriter is among ten Palestine Action activists who are accused of storming the headquarters of a Israeli-based defence firm in an alleged armed protest.

COVID-19

• Described the COVID-19 lab leak theory as "conspiracy theory", "false claim", "baseless claim" and had been pushed by conspiracy groups while pushing Chinese propaganda that it originated in the US.
• Misrepresented COVID-19 risk to boost lockdown support.
• We are all at risk of COVID-19 and that the virus does not discriminate, despite the risk to over 75's being 10,000 times higher than under 15s.
• Gave the impression that hospitals were being overwhelmed during the first wave, despite hospital bed occupancy being at an all time low.
• Routinely reported COVID-19 deaths of healthy young adults, giving the impression that these were common despite them being extremely rare.
• Claimed the Pfizer COVID-19 "vaccine" probably protected those around you, despite it not reducing transmission.
• Reported that £1billion in PPE is insufficient for managing COVID-19, yet £1.4billion in COVID-19 PPE is later destroyed.

Climate and Environment

• You do not need a climate change denier to balance the debate.
• Conveniences like Wi-Fi and mobile networks cause climate change.

Economic and Factual Errors

• In an article about inflation, fails to mention money supply or taxes.
• The greatest effect of governments borrowing and spending recklessly is not inflation.
• Stated that the Chinese economy grew 4.7% in a 3month period, when it was reporting on the annualised growth rate.
• Removes references to a BBC Verify claim that government figures are "likely" correct, when they were false.
• Claims a man is spending £5 a night on energy to charge his wheelchair, which would mean with the price cap his battery is over 300 times the energy capacity average wheelchair battery or 3 Tesla power walls.
• Suggests it is unlikely a DDOS attack would affect a single service or feature on a website.
• Reports that one third of people living in London can not afford basic hygiene products. A bar of soap from Tesco costs 30 pence.
• Inbreeding between cousins is not a cause of congenital anomalies.
• Plagiarism by Claudine Gay is a conservative talking point and only "alleged" despite overwhelming evidence and admissions.
• Claimed uncritically that Jussie Smollet needed hospital treatment after two men punched him in the face and police were treating it as a hate crime. Claimed the offenders wore KKK outfits, wrapped a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him in Wintertime Chicago at 2am.
• Purchasing items is described as being "torn" from their previous owner.
• Minimising the dangers and risks of transmission of HIV: "People like to ask me if I was risky or unlucky - everyone with HIV is unlucky.".
• Wrote an article about a new product, without paying for it.

Trivial and Frivolous Reporting

• A lady who is nervous driving is considered front page news.
• A lady several hours late for her flight is required to purchase another ticket to travel to her destination.
• Someone that refuses to purchase within their means, budget sensibly or retain a partner while having a child is worthy of an article.
• Considers a lady failing to complete required paperwork being threatened with deportation as newsworthy.
• Asylum seekers describing their government provided accommodation as having nearby trees being too loud in the wind and that the bathroom was cold in the Winter is worthy of an article.
• A lady misses a bus because it is full.
• Wrote an article about a women who thinks the police should do more about a man from India exposing himself on the internet.

Financial and Operational

• Almost £100m written off by BBC as digital archive project is scrapped.
• BBC Media Action received $3.23million from USAID.

Historical Controversies
